I would like to work as an archaeologist, I will work in excavations carried out in the context of environmental evaluation studies, in which the damage that an economic exploitation project does to the nature of the territory it affects must be studied, in these studies too It is necessary to study if exists or not archaeological heritage in the affected area. If the answer is yes, the archaeological material is rescued. These types of studies are the most common type of work that archaeologists have in Chile, so the probability of working there is high. On the contrary, doing your own archaeological research for your own research purposes with direct funding from the state is a very difficult activity to do due to the large number of requirements that must be met and the little employment it provides.

In general, it is a job that requires many travels, because, although there is employ, it is of short duration, and it is necessary to quickly find a new one with another excavation. It is also a job that requires a lot of outdoor activity, archaeological excavations are usually done outdoors and often in extreme environments.

I do not want to speculate with the salary, when I entered the career in 2019, before the economic insecurity that exists now, it was said that the salary of an archaeologist just out of the oven could reach 800,000 Chilean pesos, but I do not know if now that will continue to be the situation.

Now I am studying the specialty of archeology within the more general career of anthropology.
